  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Neuropeptide oxytocin facilitates its own brain-to-periphery uptake. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 4, 2025
    Both the osmotic challenge and oxytocin neuronal activation elicit a local rise in neurohypophyseal capillary permeability in an oxytocin-signaling-dependent manner. We propose that oxytocin-dependent neurovascular coupling facilitates its efficient uptake into the blood circulation, suggesting a self-perpetuating stimulus-secretion-uptake mechanism for peripheral hormone transfer.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Low-pressure exposure influences the development of HAPE. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 3, 2025
    Furthermore, hypoxia and hypobaria act synergistically and stimulate inflammation in ICR mice. Therefore, we suggest that hypobaria plays an important role in the pathogenesis of HAPE.
  • ||||||||||  Biomarker, Review, Journal:  Biomarkers of lung congestion and injury in acute heart failure. (Pubmed Central) -  Mar 17, 2025
    With deregulation of fluid handling and gas exchange pathways, SPs become sensitive markers of lung injury. We report the pathobiology of lung damage; the pathophysiological and clinical implications of alveolar SPs along with the newest evidence for some classical HF biomarkers that have also shown to reflect a vascular and/or a tissue lung-related activity.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Physiopathology of High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema. (Pubmed Central) -  Mar 7, 2025
    This article presents a view of the physiopathology of HAPE by merging available data in humans exposed to high altitude with data from animal experimental approaches. A model is also presented to characterize HAPE nonsusceptible versus susceptible individuals based on the efficiency of alveolar-capillary oxygen uptake and estimated morphology of the air-blood barrier.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Image-guided patient-specific prediction of interstitial fluid flow and drug transport in solid tumors. (Pubmed Central) -  Feb 15, 2025
    The patient-specific data were subsequently incorporated into a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model to simulate individualized tumor perfusion and drug transport maps. The results on interstitial fluid flow demonstrated noticeable heterogeneity of interstitial fluid pressure and velocity within the tumor, along with heterogeneous drug penetration profiles among different tumors, even with a similar drug administration regimen.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Presenting With Pericardial Effusion and Cardiac Tamponade: A Case Report. (Pubmed Central) -  Feb 3, 2025
    After receiving empirical antibiotics, platelet transfusions, and close supervision, the patient's health improved, and the pericardial drain was removed on the fifth day of hospitalization. Since myocarditis and pericardial effusion are uncommon but hazardous cardiac symptoms in dengue fever, it is critical to detect and treat these disorders in patients with severe dengue fever to limit the illness's morbidity and mortality.
  • ||||||||||  Biomarker, Journal:  Biomarkers. (Pubmed Central) -  Jan 12, 2025
    This may imply regional BBB vulnerability of BF or another ongoing process such as hyperactivation or inflammation, suggesting a link between BBB dysfunction and early pathological changes in the BF area. Verification of these results on larger dataset is necessary before any further conclusions can be made.
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  Endothelial Protection and Improved Micro- and Macrocirculation with Hemoadsorption in Critically Ill Patients. (Pubmed Central) -  Dec 17, 2024
    It has been shown in both in vitro animal experiments and in humans that extracorporeal hemoadsorption can reduce circulating levels of cytokines and may also remove toxic proteins that directly take part in endothelium and glycocalyx damage. The current review aims to summarize current knowledge, put recent findings into context, and introduce the hypothesis of "endothelial protection with hemoadsorption" in critically ill patients.

    Journal:  Latrophilin-2 Deletion in Cardiomyocyte Disrupts Cell Junction, Leading to D-CMP. (Pubmed Central) -  Nov 13, 2024
    The embryonic lethality resulting from Lphn2 deletion necessitates the establishment of cardiomyocyte-specific, tamoxifen-inducible Lphn2 knockout mice, which was achieved by crossing Lphn2?flox/flox mice with mice having MerCreMer (tamoxifen-inducible Cre [Cyclization recombinase] recombinase) under the ?-myosin heavy chain promoter...Lphn2 is a critical regulator of heart integrity by controlling mitochondrial functions and cell-to-cell junctions in cardiomyocytes. Its deficiency leads to D-CMP, which can be rescued by activators of the p38-MAPK pathway.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  The effect of VEGF and KDR gene variants on Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever. (Pubmed Central) -  Nov 5, 2024
    The KDR?-?604?T?>?C variant's allele and genotype distribution were not significantly different between the patients and controls. This study suggests the VEGF 936?C?>?T variant is a genetic marker of sensitivity to CCHF among the Turkish population and may help protect against the disease.
  • ||||||||||  garadacimab (CSL312) / CSL Behring
    Review, Journal:  Targeting factor XIIa for therapeutic interference with hereditary angioedema. (Pubmed Central) -  Sep 27, 2024
    Of these, garadacimab, an FXIIa-targeted inhibitory monoclonal antibody, is the most advanced and has shown potential as a novel long-term prophylactic treatment for patients with HAE in clinical trials. The evidence from these trials is summarized and discussed, and we propose areas for future research where targeting FXIIa may have therapeutic potential beyond HAE.
  • ||||||||||  Preclinical, Journal:  Sulfated polysaccharide from Apostichopus japonicus viscera exhibits anti-inflammatory properties in vitro and in vivo. (Pubmed Central) -  Sep 15, 2024
    SCVP-2's anti-inflammatory capacity was confirmed in acute inflammation models, including xylene-induced ear swelling and acetic acid-induced peritoneal capillary permeability, and in high-fat diet-induced systemic low-grade chronic inflammation. In conclusion, SCVP-2 exhibits significant anti-inflammatory activity, suggesting its potential for development as a functional food ingredient or therapeutic agent for inflammation-related diseases.
