Journal: Latrophilin-2 Deletion in Cardiomyocyte Disrupts Cell Junction, Leading to D-CMP. (Pubmed Central) - Nov 13, 2024 The embryonic lethality resulting from Lphn2 deletion necessitates the establishment of cardiomyocyte-specific, tamoxifen-inducible Lphn2 knockout mice, which was achieved by crossing Lphn2?flox/flox mice with mice having MerCreMer (tamoxifen-inducible Cre [Cyclization recombinase] recombinase) under the ?-myosin heavy chain promoter...Lphn2 is a critical regulator of heart integrity by controlling mitochondrial functions and cell-to-cell junctions in cardiomyocytes. Its deficiency leads to D-CMP, which can be rescued by activators of the p38-MAPK pathway.

The KDR?-?604?T?>?C variant's allele and genotype distribution were not significantly different between the patients and controls. This study suggests the VEGF 936?C?>?T variant is a genetic marker of sensitivity to CCHF among the Turkish population and may help protect against the disease.

Review, Journal: Targeting factor XIIa for therapeutic interference with hereditary angioedema. (Pubmed Central) - Sep 27, 2024 Of these, garadacimab, an FXIIa-targeted inhibitory monoclonal antibody, is the most advanced and has shown potential as a novel long-term prophylactic treatment for patients with HAE in clinical trials. The evidence from these trials is summarized and discussed, and we propose areas for future research where targeting FXIIa may have therapeutic potential beyond HAE.
- |||||||||| Journal: Physiopathology of High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema. (Pubmed Central) - Sep 27, 2024
This article presents a view of the physiopathology of HAPE by merging available data in humans exposed to high altitude with data from animal experimental approaches. A model is also presented to characterize HAPE nonsusceptible versus susceptible individuals based on the efficiency of alveolar-capillary oxygen uptake and estimated morphology of the air-blood barrier.
- |||||||||| Preclinical, Journal: Sulfated polysaccharide from Apostichopus japonicus viscera exhibits anti-inflammatory properties in vitro and in vivo. (Pubmed Central) - Sep 15, 2024
SCVP-2's anti-inflammatory capacity was confirmed in acute inflammation models, including xylene-induced ear swelling and acetic acid-induced peritoneal capillary permeability, and in high-fat diet-induced systemic low-grade chronic inflammation. In conclusion, SCVP-2 exhibits significant anti-inflammatory activity, suggesting its potential for development as a functional food ingredient or therapeutic agent for inflammation-related diseases.

These cases shed light on the efficacy of intrapleural triamcinolone as a therapeutic modality, offering insights into its potential as an innovative solution for symptomatic exudative lymphocytic predominant pleural effusions.
- |||||||||| Biomarker, Review, Journal: Biomarkers of lung congestion and injury in acute heart failure. (Pubmed Central) - Aug 9, 2024
With deregulation of fluid handling and gas exchange pathways, SPs become sensitive markers of lung injury. We report the pathobiology of lung damage; the pathophysiological and clinical implications of alveolar SPs along with the newest evidence for some classical HF biomarkers that have also shown to reflect a vascular and/or a tissue lung-related activity.
- |||||||||| Yellow Urticaria (Poster Area) - Aug 5, 2024 - Abstract #EADV2024EADV_5194;
We report the pathobiology of lung damage; the pathophysiological and clinical implications of alveolar SPs along with the newest evidence for some classical HF biomarkers that have also shown to reflect a vascular and/or a tissue lung-related activity. Although it is an infrequent occurrence, it is noteworthy to recognize this sign, which in all reported cases has occurred in the context of hyperbilirubinemia in potentially serious underlying pathologies.

SEVERE MALARIA COMPLICATED BY NONCARDIOGENIC PULMONARY EDEMA: WHEN HYPOPARASITEMIA PROVIDES FALSE REASSURANCE (Convention Center Exhibit Hall: Poster Area 3) - Jul 31, 2024 - Abstract #CHEST2024CHEST_5570; This case highlights the importance of assessing different prognostic markers when treating for malaria in order to provide adequate therapy in a timely manner. Similarly, it warrants being vigilant with volume repletion given high risk of pulmonary edema in setting of increased capillary permeability[3].
- |||||||||| CHANGES IN FLUID DISTRIBUTION AND HAEMODYNAMICS IN THE EARLY PHASE OF ACUTE PANCREATITIS (Poster Stage 4) - Jul 18, 2024 - Abstract #UEGW2024UEGW_2420;
Our data provide physiological rationale for emerging evidence regarding more restricitive fluid resuscitation. Personalized- and goal directed therapy may be a promising novel way in the transition from necessary fluid resuscitation to harmful fluid volume accumulation in the early phase of AP.

The expert review synthesizes current evidence and practice guidelines, suggesting integrating POCUS as a fundamental aspect of fluid management in obstetrics. It calls for ongoing research to enhance techniques and validate their use in broader clinical settings, aiming to improve outcomes for pregnant patients and their babies by preventing complications associated with both under- and over-resuscitation.

Journal: Functional roles of CD26/DPP4 in lipopolysaccharide-induced lung injury. (Pubmed Central) - Apr 24, 2024 We previously reported that DPP4 inhibition by sitagliptin attenuates lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced lung injury in mice...In summary, this study demonstrated that genetic deficiency of Dpp4 attenuates inflammatory responses but not permeability in LPS-induced lung injury in mice, potentially through differential functional roles of CD26/DPP4 expression in resident cellular components of the lung. CD26/DPP4 may be a potential therapeutic target for ARDS and warrants further exploration to precisely identify the multiple functional effects of CD26/DPP4 in ARDS pathophysiology.
