Apoptosis of spermatogenic cells decreased significantly, and the expression of VEGF, p-Akt, and p-p70S6K protein was decreased (P 0.05).In conclusion, HIF-1α is regulated by hypoxia in rats with varicocele to regulate its downstream gene VEGF which regulates spermatogenesis, and the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway plays a regulatory role in this process.

(Pubmed Central) - Dec 2, 2021 The PI3K inhibitor, LY294002, decreased Akita SOD activity when insulin was present, indicating that the modulation of antioxidant activity is through insulin signaling...Of 29 antioxidant enzymes quantified, thioredoxin 1 was the only one that was significantly enhanced by insulin treatment. In vitro analysis of thioredoxin 1 revealed a previously undescribed capacity of the enzyme to directly scavenge O. These findings demonstrate that insulin has a role in mitigating cardiac oxidative stress in diabetes via regulation of endogenous antioxidant activity.

Additionally, we show that Cep55-loss leads to a significant reduction of ciliated cells, highlighting a novel role in regulating ciliogenesis. Collectively, our findings demonstrate a critical role of Cep55 during brain development and provide mechanistic insights that may have important implications for genetic syndromes associated with Cep55-loss.

In addition, we provide an update on the current ongoing clinical development of agents targeting this pathway for HCC treatments.

In conclusion, we believe that concurrent examination of PTEN/PI3K/mTOR protein expression may be more useful in predicting TNBC clinical course than the analysis of single protein expression. Specifically, our results showed that PTEN-reduced/PI3K-high/mTOR-high expression constitutes a 'high risk' profile of TNBC.
