Journal: Cajanol Sensitizes A2780/Taxol Cells to Paclitaxel by Inhibiting the PI3K/Akt/NF-κB Signaling Pathway. (Pubmed Central) - Dec 28, 2021 First, we determined that cajanol inhibits paclitaxel efflux in A2780/Taxol cells by down-regulating permeability glycoprotein (P-gp) expression, and further found that cajanol can inhibit P-gp transcription and translation through the PI3K/Akt/NF-κB pathway. The results of this work are expected to provide a new candidate compound for the development of paclitaxel sensitizers.
- |||||||||| Review, Journal: TCM Regulates PI3K/Akt Signal Pathway to Intervene Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease. (Pubmed Central) - Dec 28, 2021
This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and its role in the pathogenesis of AS, as well as the role of Chinese medicine in regulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. The findings are expected to provide a theoretical basis for the clinical treatment and pathological mechanism research of AS.

For metastatic breast cancer, standard therapy options include targeted approaches such as CDK4 and CDK6 inhibitors, PI3K inhibitors, PARP inhibitors, and anti-PD-L1 immunotherapy, depending on tumour type and molecular profile. This range of treatment options reflects the complexity of breast cancer therapy today.

Preclinical, Journal: Three Lipid Emulsions Reduce Staphylococcus aureus-Stimulated Phagocytosis in Mouse RAW264.7 Cells. (Pubmed Central) - Dec 27, 2021 In the present study, we used a model of S. aureus-infected mouse RAW264.7 macrophages to determine the influence of three different compositions of lipid emulsions (Lipofundin, ClinOleic, and Omegaven) on reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, phagocytosis, and bacterial survival...These results suggest that the three lipid emulsions diminished ROS production and phagocytosis, resulting in increased bacterial survival. PI3K predominantly mediated the inhibitory effects of the lipid emulsions on the phagocytosis of mouse RAW264.7 macrophages.

In recent years, growing evidence suggests that certain small molecule inhibitors, such as BTK inhibitors and PI3K inhibitors, may cause an increased risk of IFI in certain patients. It is imperative to better understand the impact that novel targeted therapies might have on the development of IFIs in this high-risk patient population.
- |||||||||| Journal: Chronic stress promotes glioma cell proliferation via the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. (Pubmed Central) - Dec 25, 2021
In conclusion, these results indicated that chronic stress and the stress hormones GC and NE activated PI3K/Akt signaling through binding to GR and ADRBs, thereby promoting glioma cell growth. Our findings may provide potential therapeutic targets and pave the way for the development of new strategies to protect patients with glioma from the detrimental effects of stress on tumor progression.
- |||||||||| Journal: Expression of activator proteins of SHH/GLI and PI3K/Akt/mTORC1 signaling pathways in human gliomas are associated with high grade tumors. (Pubmed Central) - Dec 25, 2021
Finally, we detected that high grade gliomas statistically correlate with the expression of GLI1 and GLI2, and that GLI1, GLI2, phospho-Akt and phospho-S6K1 are more expressed in patients with less survival, suggesting that activation of these cell signaling influences glioma outcome and patient survival. In summary, our results show that proteins of PI3K/Akt/mTORC1 and SHH/GLI pathways are differentially expressed in human gliomas according to tumor type and grade and suggest that the activation of these signaling networks is associated with glioma progression.

- |||||||||| Journal: Baicalin ameliorates APEC-induced intestinal injury in chicks by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT-mediated NF-κB signaling pathway. (Pubmed Central) - Dec 25, 2021
Furthermore, BA decreased the mRNA and protein levels of phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (AKT), and nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) as well as the expression of the phosphorylated forms of these proteins after APEC infection. Collectively, our findings indicate that BA exerts a protective effect against APEC-induced intestinal injury in chicks by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT-mediated NF-κB pathway, suggesting that BA may be a potential therapeutic approach for avian colibacillosis.

Preclinical, Journal: Xihuang Pills and its main components inhibit PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathways and promote the apoptosis of prostate cancer cells in PC-3 tumor-bearing mice (Pubmed Central) - Dec 25, 2021 Collectively, our findings indicate that BA exerts a protective effect against APEC-induced intestinal injury in chicks by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT-mediated NF-κB pathway, suggesting that BA may be a potential therapeutic approach for avian colibacillosis. Xihuang Pills, musk and calculus bovis can inhibit the growth of castration-resistant human PCa PC-3 cell subcutaneously transplanted tumors, which is associated with their effects of suppressing the abnormally activated PI3K, Akt and mTOR signaling pathways and promoting the apoptosis of PCa PC3 cells.
- |||||||||| Journal: hsa_circ_0023409 Accelerates Gastric Cancer Cell Growth and Metastasis Through Regulating the IRS4/PI3K/AKT Pathway. (Pubmed Central) - Dec 23, 2021
Furthermore, IRS4 overexpression activated the PI3K/AKT pathway and reversed the inhibitory effect of hsa_circ_0023409 knockdown on the PI3K/AKT pathway. Taken together, we prove that hsa_circ_0023409 activates IRS4/PI3K/AKT pathway by acting as a sponge for miR-542-3p, thus promoting GC progression, indicating that hsa_circ_0023409 may serve as a potential target for treatment of GC and prognosis of GC patients.
