  • ||||||||||  Can we differentiate between primary Sj (PS-30; Poster board no. 7) -  May 31, 2024 - Abstract #ERS2024ERS_5124;
    Although regular and smooth-walled cysts were common in the two diseases, irregular and non-smooth-walled cysts were more often associated with iMCD than pSS. Nodules in iMCD tended to be larger and more numerous, and a close positional relationship between nodules and cysts was only observed in iMCD.
  • ||||||||||  Interstitial lung disease in Sj (PS-27; Poster board no. 18) -  May 31, 2024 - Abstract #ERS2024ERS_4230;
    Average values of PFT were: SpO2=93%, FVC=1.69l (69%), TLC=3.14l (68%), DLCO=94%.On chest CTscan,radiological patterns were:NSIP (n=20),UIP (n=2),HSP(n=1),ILA (n=2), constrictive bronchiolitis (n=1).Bronchoalveolar lavage,performed in 10cases,showed lymphocytic alveolitis in 4cases and a predominance of neutrophiles in 4cases Systemic corticosteroid therapy was indicated in 21 cases and was associated to immunosuppressive treatment in 12 cases. The evolution was favorable for 21 patients, with improvement observed in 13 cases and stability in 8 cases There was worsening in 5 cases requiring long-term oxygen therapy Conclusion More than 50%of cases of SS are diagnosed while etiological investigations for ILD.NSIP is the most frequent radiological pattern associated to SS.Worsening occurs in 20% of cases despite optimal treatment

    Retrospective data, Journal:  Dysregulated serum lipid profile is associated with inflammation and disease activity in primary Sj (Pubmed Central) -  May 30, 2024
    This research aims to clarify the population portrait of pSS patients with abnormal lipid profiles and provides insights into the correlation between metabolism and inflammation in individuals with pSS and the potential role they play in the advancement of the disease. These findings provide novel avenues for further understanding the underlying mechanisms of pSS pathogenesis.
  • ||||||||||  ULTRASOUND ELASTOGRAPHY IN ASSESSMENT OF SALIVARY GLANDS IN PRIMARY SJOGREN () -  May 29, 2024 - Abstract #EULAR2024EULAR_4588;
    SWV values did not correlate with B-mode, probably due to the difficulty in scoring severely fibrotic glands using Hocevar score. Larger studies including patients with pSS and patients with sicca syndrome, as well as standardization of SWE protocols, are warranted to assess the role of SWE in the diagnostic algorithm of pSS.

  • ||||||||||  BEHIND THE BRONCHIECTASIS IN SYSTEMIC SCLEROSIS. PREVALENCE AND RISK FACTORS () -  May 29, 2024 - Abstract #EULAR2024EULAR_4063;
    Given that bronchiectasis was more frequent in patients with secondary Sjogren's syndrome, but not in SSA-positive participants, we hypothesize that its development is related to sicca symptoms in the tracheocronchial tree. Since neither esophageal nor immunosuppressive involvement was found as a cause of bronchiectasis, the infectious origin of bronchiectasis could not be concluded.
  • ||||||||||  TIME TO TALK TO ADULT PATIENTS ABOUT HERPES ZOSTER VACCINATION () -  May 29, 2024 - Abstract #EULAR2024EULAR_4048;
    We therefore advocate for rheumatologists to systematically recommend HZ vaccination to their adult patients, paying particular attention to patients with SLE and those treated with JAK-inhibitors or glucocorticoids. This will be an important step in protecting patients with rheumatic IMIDs against HZ and its complications.

    JAK INHIBITORS AND INTERSTITIAL LUNG DISEASE ASSOCIATED WITH SYSTEMIC AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES (SADS-ILD): A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE () -  May 29, 2024 - Abstract #EULAR2024EULAR_4004;
    While conclusions from this analysis are limited due to differences in assessments across publications, overall treatment of patients with SADs with a JAK inhibitor was associated with a significant improvement in ILD. Our systematic literature review suggests that JAK inhibitors may be a viable treatment option for SADs patients with ILD, and randomized controlled trials are necessary to confirm these findings.
