  • ||||||||||  Clinical, Journal:  Clinical characteristics of anti-CV2 antibody-associated neurological diseases (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 20, 2021
    The current study found that the positive predictive value of anti-CV2 antibody for the diagnosis of PNS was 56.5%, which was relatively weak. As an accompanying antibody, it may be a coincidence, and it may also be related to the involvement of family members in the pathological process of the diseases.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Thymoma-Related Stiff-Person Syndrome with Successfully Treated by Surgery. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 20, 2021
    As an accompanying antibody, it may be a coincidence, and it may also be related to the involvement of family members in the pathological process of the diseases. Surgical treatment would be effective for patients with SPS and thymoma.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Investigating Pleiotropy Between Depression and Autoimmune Diseases Using the UK Biobank. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 20, 2021
    Consistent with the literature, depression was more common in individuals with autoimmune diseases than in controls, and vice versa. PRSs showed some evidence for involvement of shared genetic factors, but the modest R values suggest that shared genetic architecture accounts for a small proportion of the increased risk across traits.
  • ||||||||||  Clinical, Journal:  Therapeutic efficacy of 3,4-Diaminopyridine phosphate on neuromuscular junction in Pompe disease. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 18, 2021
    After drug administration, we observed an increase in the number of acetylcholine receptors an increment in the percentage of NMJs with normal structure and amelioration in embryo behavior, with recovery of typical movements that were lost in the embryo PD model. Our results revealed early NMJ impairment in Pompe zebrafish model with improvement after administration of 3,4-DAPP, suggesting its potential use as symptomatic drug in patients with Pompe disease.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Targeted molecular therapy for myasthenia gravis. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 17, 2021
    Our results revealed early NMJ impairment in Pompe zebrafish model with improvement after administration of 3,4-DAPP, suggesting its potential use as symptomatic drug in patients with Pompe disease. No abstract available

  • ||||||||||  New P1 trial:  Oxaloacetate in Myasthenia Gravis (clinicaltrials.gov) -  Jul 15, 2021

  • ||||||||||  Clinical, Journal:  Canine Nonstructural Megaesophagus as a Clinical Sign of Potential Neurological Disease: 99 Cases. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 15, 2021
    ME continues to be a challenging condition to manage, with a guarded-to-poor prognosis, particularly when an underlying etiology is not identified. Thorough diagnostic testing for an underlying neurological disorder is important in cases with ME as this may allow institution of appropriate treatment and the potential for a better prognosis.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  LncRNA XLOC_003810 modulates thymic Th17/Treg balance in myasthenia gravis with thymoma. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 15, 2021
    Importantly, the Th17/Treg imbalance in MG-T thymic CD4 T cells was aggravated by XLOC_003810 overexpression, whereas attenuated by XLOC_003810 silencing. Collectively, XLOC_003810 modulates thymic Th17/Treg balance in MG-T patients, providing the scientific basis for the clinical targeted therapy of MG-T.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Brainstem stroke presenting as isolated bilateral ptosis. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 14, 2021
    A midbrain infarction that results in isolated bilateral ptosis as the only neurological deficit is much rarer and an easy diagnosis to miss; therefore, potentially leading to further downstream complications. We describe the case of an elderly patient who presented with isolated bilateral ptosis, initially thought to be consequent to myasthenia gravis but subsequently identified to have a perforator infarct in the midbrain, resulting in his symptoms.
  • ||||||||||  Clinical, Journal:  Excessive Pesticide Use Likely to Cause the Onset of Myasthenia Gravis in the Moroccan Agricultural Population. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 14, 2021
    We describe the case of an elderly patient who presented with isolated bilateral ptosis, initially thought to be consequent to myasthenia gravis but subsequently identified to have a perforator infarct in the midbrain, resulting in his symptoms. These findings may lead to highlight exposure to pesticides and their accumulation during the time spent by these agricultural workers in the fields and sometimes without appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • ||||||||||  Clinical, Journal:  Oral function in patients with myasthenia gravis. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 13, 2021
    Future studies should aim at integrating measurement of peak force into functional tests. Attention should be given to oral complaints of patients with MG.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Virtual visits for chronic neurologic disorders during COVID-19 pandemic. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 11, 2021
    Furthermore, our findings indicated that patients receiving nivolumab and ipilimumab as co-therapy should be carefully monitored. We demonstrated feasibility and effectiveness of virtual visit in the management of a large group of patients with common chronic neurological disorders.
  • ||||||||||  Clinical, Journal:  A rare case of combined thymoma and a multilocular thymic cyst discovered due to chest pain. (Pubmed Central) -  Jul 9, 2021
    It is important to be aware of these associations, as an early diagnosis with proper treatment will result in a better outcome. We speculated that hemorrhagic necrosis due to infarction in tumor caused the inflammation to spread to the surrounding organs, which was related to the chest pain and the development of MTCs.
