  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Parent-child mental health in Ukraine in relation to war trauma and drone attacks. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
The high prevalence of children and parents in Ukraine with symptoms screening positive for mental disorders indicates an urgent need for services for school-age children and parents in this war-affected region. High-intensity drone attacks increase the risk of parents screening positive for PTSD.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Circadian Rhythm Defects in Prader-Willi Syndrome Neurons. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Moreover, treatment with the small molecule Longdaysin effectively lengthened the period length of PWS neurons with a shorter period length, as anticipated based on the mechanism of action of this compound. This work lays the foundation for a deeper understanding of PWS pathophysiology and represents a critical first step toward developing high-throughput assays for drug discovery targeting circadian and sleep dysfunction in PWS.
  • ||||||||||  Preclinical, Review, Journal:  Leveraging animal models to understand non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
In this review, we survey the existing literature on the assessment of non-motor signs in parkinsonian rodents and non-human primates. We highlight the gaps in our understanding and suggest how researchers might improve experimental designs to produce more meaningful results with the hope of better understanding the disease and developing better therapies.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  The contribution of addictovigilance data to the French medical cannabis experimentation. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Adverse effects of interest will need to be monitored in particular, including neurological disorders (epilepsy exacerbation, cognitive disorders), psychiatric disorders (substance use disorder, suicidal behaviour), and cardiovascular disorders as well as any unexpected AEs. Close addictovigilance monitoring contributes to increasing the awareness of professionals involved in the clinical management of patients treated with medical cannabis.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Astrocytic CREB in nucleus accumbens promotes susceptibility to chronic stress. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Together, our data demonstrate that the astrocyte transcriptome responds robustly to CSDS and that transcriptional regulation in astrocytes contributes to depressive-like behaviors. A better understanding of transcriptional regulation in astrocytes may reveal unknown molecular mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  A scoping review of consecutive controlled case series studies. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
The sample sizes ranged from 3 to 269 participants, with a median of 20 participants. We discuss current trends, gaps in the literature, and implications for statements of the generality of behavioral procedures.
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  Person-Centred Care: State-of-the-Art and Future Perspectives. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Evaluations followed modern research standards and incorporated past study insights for a more thorough approach. This study highlights how the cumulative experience from previous research in person-centred care informs the design and analyses of subsequent projects through an iterative learning process, particularly important for complex interventions in various health care contexts.
  • ||||||||||  Preclinical, Journal:  Neonatal Obstructive Sleep Apneas in a Mouse Model of Down Syndrome. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Obstructive apneas were observed in both Dp(16)1Yey and wild-type mice, but the total time spent in obstructive apneas was longer in Dp(16)1Yey mice, due to their longer mean duration. These findings highlight the relevance of the Dp(16)1Yey model for studying OSA in DS during the neonatal period and for investigating the contribution of early respiratory disorders to DS pathology.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Characteristics of time perception in adolescents with non-suicidal self-injury and psychiatric disorders comorbidity. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
This study identifies characteristics of time perception in adolescent NPC patients, which may serve as a novel behavioral indicator for the early identification of risk for suicide. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the neurobiological bases of NSSI and highlight the potential of time perception tasks in the early identification of adverse outcomes, offering novel insights for intervention strategies.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Mental Illness in Chile: Institutional Framework from 1852 to 1928 (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
As healthcare contacts offer opportunities to identify treatment needs early, these groups may be vulnerable to delays in the pathway to treatment. The results help to understand the current state of mental health in Chile, highlighting a concern for this area but also pointing out a budgetary and institutional deficit that dates back to its foundational milestones in the 19th century.
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  The neurobiological impact of oxytocin in mental health disorders: a comprehensive review. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Despite its potential, challenges remain in understanding the mechanisms underlying its effects and identifying the patient populations that would benefit most from such therapies. Future research should focus on elucidating these mechanisms, exploring the long-term efficacy of oxytocin-based interventions, and advancing personalized medicine to maximize its clinical utility.
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  From immune response to mental health: neutrophils in schizophrenia. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Additionally, targeting neutrophil activity and associated inflammatory pathways presents a promising avenue for developing new therapeutic interventions. This review underscores the need for further research to elucidate the precise mechanisms by which neutrophils influence schizophrenia and to explore potential treatments that could improve outcomes for patients.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Azithromycin-induced Adolescent Manic Episode with Psychotic Features: A Case Report. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
The patient demonstrated relative improvement in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, with no relapse despite eventual discontinuation of psychotropic medication. We report, to our knowledge for the first time, that AZT monotherapy might induce a manic episode with psychotic features in adolescent patients with no psychiatric medical history.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Recidivism rates of female offenders discharged from forensic psychiatric treatment. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Subgroup analysis of patients with substance use disorders indicated that treatment dropouts were about three times more likely to recidivate than patients who completed treatment (Exp[B] = 2.863; p <.001). The results provide rare recidivism data for risk assessment of female offenders with mental disorders and underscore the protective effect of forensic psychiatric treatment, including forensic aftercare, on recidivism.
  • ||||||||||  Journal:  Maternal mental health disorders associate with their child's asthma: A register-based study. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
Despite a null association between ELD and depressive symptoms and anxiety in the whole population, higher adherence to ELD was associated with a lower risk of depressive symptoms in males. Maternal mental health disorders were associated more with their child's non-allergic asthma (1.37; 1.18-1.60) than allergic asthma (1.17; 1.05-1.30), both p
  • ||||||||||  Review, Journal:  Molecular Tools to Study and Control Dopaminergic Neurotransmission With Light. (Pubmed Central) -  Apr 11, 2025
While we provide a concise guideline for the readers interested in pharmacological, pharmacogenetic, and optogenetic approaches to modulate dopaminergic neurotransmission, our primary focus is on the usage of photocaged and photo-switchable small dopaminergic molecules. We argue that photopharmacology, photoswitchable molecules of varied modalities, can be employed in a wide range of experimental paradigms, providing unprecedent insights into the principles of dopaminergic control, and represent the most promising light-based therapeutic approach for spatiotemporally precise correction of dopamine-related neural functions and pathologies.
