The relatively small number of dogs limited the statistical power of the pilot study in evaluating the efficacy and safety of ACC. Study results support the conduct of larger, appropriately powered studies using similar assessments to confirm whether ACC may be a safe and effective treatment for OA in dogs.

ACC can inhibit cathepsin B activity during in vitro culture of fibroblast cells. The beneficial impact of ACC on cleavage mouse embryos is likely due to an improved buffering effect causing slower pH media variations, which may enhance quality and implantation potential of embryos following in vitro culture.
