(Pubmed Central) - Jun 9, 2021 The combination treatment showed more significant inhibition on the growth of transplanted tumors in mice than single-drug treatment. Overall, our study here showed the enhancement of anti-PD-1 antitumor efficacy in a syngeneic mouse model (CT-26 cells in Balb/c) by the angiogenesis inhibitor apatinib via upregulating PD-L1 expression as well as angiogenesis inhibition, which may provide a rationale for the combination of apatinib and anti-PD-1 antibody for colorectal cancer treatment in the clinic.

(Pubmed Central) - Jun 8, 2021 P2 Although the combination of apatinib and camrelizumab seemed to prolong PFS in comparison to single agent apatinib in treating advanced osteosarcoma, it did not reach the prespecified target of 6-month PFS of 60% or greater. Overexpression of PD-L1 and the presence of pulmonary metastases only were associated with longer PFS.

Anti-PD-1 monotherapies improve safety in refractory disease, with no significant survival benefit.
